Tennis, cycling events start Jimmy V Week (The News & Observer)
A tennis tournament and a bike ride are among the weekend sports events that are part of Jimmy V Week. The events raise funds for The V Foundation for Cancer Research, named in honor of the late N.C. State men’s basketball coach Jim Valvano.

Holmen High School’s girls tennis program returns six varsity players from last year’s conference team, with five of the six from last year’s doubles players. Not surprisingly then, head coach Herb Wunsch will focus his efforts on the doubles flights this fall.
